gatsby please help me with my party
Gatsby is known all over New York for his legendary parties with”...buffet tables, garnished with glistening hors d'oeuvre, spiced baked hams crowded against salads of harlequin designs and pastry pigs and turkeys bewitched to a dark gold (40).” The list doesn’t stop here though. Gatsby also provides hundreds of people entertainment and drinks. Just one of these parties is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. However, his parties would not be successful without the help from his numerous servants.
For some reason, my parents thought it would be a good idea to let me plan my birthday party all by myself. I know I'm sixteen and all, but in no way am I capable of throwing a party. Creating a playlist, figuring out what food to get, and keeping the guests entertained is just so much work, especially when I not only lack the resources to throw a party, but the experience as well. (I never realized how difficult it is to calculate how many pizzas to buy per person till this week.)
In contrast, Gatsby nonchalantly throws grand parties for hundreds of people every week. He believes that he’ll somehow catch Daisy’s attention, proving that his emotions are blinding him. Regardless, a significant amount of time and effort are put into creating a successful party; hence, these parties symbolize Gatsby’s love for Daisy.
The power of love makes people do wonders, like throwing extravagant parties every week. So, hopefully my parents love me enough to help me out because right now it’s not going so well.
I really like how you connected Gatsby to your own life! And I also like how you compared his love for Daisy for your parents love for you (If they end up helping you haha). Good job!
ReplyDeleteI loved how you compared it to your birthday party. It was interesting to read and it had a different perspective.
